I tried to get Android auto for free with aftermarket apps and effing around with settings, etc, but got tired of that that bs. So I took a chance despite mixed reviews here and am glad I did. It works perfectly with my Atoto A6 pro and my Xiaomi redmi note 4. Plug in, android auto starts, and away I go.

I bought this by purely reading the reviews, once you install Autokit this just plugs and play. The noise was an issue in start i.e. I was unable to hear apple car play in the car, but the trick is to switch off Bluetooth and turn apps noise in Audio Source. It works absolutely fine, no issue with integration with the car etc

I have an iPhone XS and so far it works well, it also allows me to use the induction charger that came with the vehicle (no point in having an induction charger if you have to plug into the car's USB to use the carplay). It is also nice that I don't have to take the phone out of my pocket to use carplay now. Sometime the connection is immediate, every once in a while I have to click the screen to confirm the connection, and very rarely I need to unplug the unit and plug it back in to get it to work. So far that has only been the case when the car has been running on remote start with the phone not near the vehicle; I have a feeling it is the phone not the unit causing the issues.
