I have some tree roots popping up in several places in my yard. I kept destroying lawn mower blades when I would accidentally run over them. I had tried everything to shave them down. I tried an axe, too much work and not much progress. I tried chain saw, with same results. I tried a reciprocating saw with aggressive wood blade, same results.

Saw and tried these grinder blades and shaved the roots down even with and below the ground surface in a couple of minutes. These are great. You could even grind down stumps with these.

Porter Cable grinder, lock nut does not fit. Ground mine to fit, five minutes. Once that was resolved, I used it for two hours. Light cut works best, to much downward force can cause chatter or jumping. It cuts efficiently and gives a fairly smooth cut surface. Handled large knots easily. Would have been 5 stars, if it had a standard lock nut opening.

I was reducing some outgrowth of a maple tree stump so I wouldn’t trip on it. After about an hour of constant use I was able to get rid of the trip hazards but while it still had plenty of teeth left they were dull. I’m goi g to have to buy a couple more to dig out a bowl in the tree stump.
